PROGRAM OF THE GALLERY

Today the spectrum of the Baukunst Galerie includes a wide, but decided program of international, contemporary art, which integrates young and classic positions. The focus is put on esthetical concepts, which deal with space and perception of colour as well as sculptures and installations for the indoor and outdoor space. This way the long standing tradition of the gallery in the tension between art and architecture has found its consequence and progressive continuation in the present.

In the field of painting and drawing the Spanish artists Eduardo Chillida and Joan Hernández Pijuan and the Americans Sam Francis, Mark Tobey, Phil Sims, Frederic Matys Thursz and Paul Pagk stand for abstraction. Figurative painting is represented by Meta Isæus-Berlin (S) and Oliver Dorfer (A.) The works of Joachim Bandau (D), Sjoerd Buisman (NL), David Lindberg (USA), Qin Yufen (CHN) and François Morellet (F) are concise positions of modern and contemporary sculpture and installation. Black and white photography represented by Henri Cartier-Bresson is consistently proceeded by the photographic portraits of Inta Ruka (LV) and Loredana Nemes (D) and the subjective author photography of Sibylle Bergemann (D). In addition the section of contemporary colour photography is represented by Christian Gieraths’ (D) urban landscapes. The categories of artist-film and performance are represented amongst others by Noritoshi Hirakawa (J), Craig Kalpakjian (USA) and the artist duo M+M (D).
