THE MAIN PROFILE OF THE JUDIT VIRAG GALLERY AND AUCTION HOUSE IS THE TRADE OF QUALITY 19TH AND 20TH CENTURY HUNGARIAN PAINTINGS AND ALSO ZSOLNAY CERAMICS, IN ADDITION TO ORGANISING AUCTIONS AND EXHIBITIONS.

The Gallery holds three auctions yearly, of outstanding Classical Hungarian paintings, as well as Zsolnay ceramics. Both Hungarian and foreign collectors, from Western-Europe and overseas, participate in the auctions either personally, through a phone bid or by leaving an absentee bid. In the past couple of years several collections of outstanding Hungarian paintings have been established all over the world. The prices of Hungarian paintings have multiplied over the past ten years - while the record bid in 1998 was 21 million HUF, today's record is 230 million. Therefore, those who purchased Hungarian painting at the right time, could make a considerable profit. The foremost Hungarian painters participated in various progressive European art movements and exhibitions; the quality of their art meets the standard of the European masters, but their pictures can be purchased for the fraction of those painted by their European contemporaries. The quality of the pictures and the brisk auction is ensured by limited lot numbers and a strict selection process. The auction house is proud to have broken records, beyond all expectations, more often than any other auction house in Hungary. The basis for this success is the stable high-profile items offered, as well as the trust in the Gallery owners, built up since the funding of the auction house in 1997.

In the periods between auctions, the Gallery carries out direct art trade, organises exclusive, thematic exhibitions in its elegant exhibition rooms. Furthermore, the Gallery is pleased to publish monographs, exclusive publications, or supports and sponsors such publications. Its database of Hungarian private collections is exceptionally rich, therefore, major exhibitions or publications cannot be carried out without their help. The Judit Virag Gallery and Auction House has provided opportunities to display contemporary painting. In the Contemporary Gallery founded in 2001, artists and their art from the 1960's to the present day is introduced through independent and group exhibitions.

The Gallery owns one of the most important Zsolnay collections in the world and has an outstanding collection of Hungarian classical-modern paintings.
