Since its establishment in 1998, Quittenbaum Kunstauktionen has become a leading international auction house for Applied Arts of the 20th Century.

Based in Munich and located in Hamburg since 2001, Quittenbaum holds around ten auctions annually, offering its international clientele high quality furniture, glass, ceramics, jewellery and silver, from 1880 to the present. Through its exceptional expertise in Art Nouveau and Art Deco, Quittenbaum has gained a reputation as a forum for dedicated collectors and specialists. This tradition dates back to 1968, when Ellen Piper, mother of the present managing director, set up an art dealership in Hamburg, offering jewellery and Art Nouveau glass up to 1940. Today, over 3,500 objects from this epoch go under the hammer in four major Spring and Autumn auctions. As well as Fine and Applied Arts we also hold special auctions for African tribal art. The advance of Modern Design has given new impulses to the art trade and auction business: in 1999 Quittenbaum held an auction of 400 Bauhaus items that was to be the cornerstone of a further specialization shaping the company profile. Collectors, interior designers, occasional buyers and amateur interior architects now flock to Quittenbaum four times a year for the auctioning of a large selection of rare objects in the areas of Industrial and Modern Design, Bauhaus, Murano and Studio Glass.

The richly illustrated auction catalogues serve as comprehensive reference works, providing a mine of valuable information for exploring 20th century art.
